Priska von Martin
The Museum für Neue Kunst is celebrating a rediscovery: Priska von Martin (1912 - 1982), sculptress and illustrator, left an extensive and extremely modern oeuvre. How could it have faded into oblivion? In the then man's world of sculpture von Martin broke new ground and experimented without compromising. She left a large part of her oeuvre to the city of Freiburg, where she was born. The exhibition, a homage to the artist, shows her dynamic animal figures, fragile female torsi and photographs of the unique "Rote Mädchen" (Red Girls) - life-size cardboard figures that she photographed in the centre of a landscape or in relation to cities and buildings.
